OPEN-AIR TREATMENT OF SURGICAL TUBERCULOSIS.—WILLARD. 263 is remarkable. Although the school is on the outskirts of a large city,30 acres of ground are occupied. For a winter playground a large area isasphalted in order that it may be quickly cleaned of snow and dried. Forshelter, a pavilion with glass roof and sides gives full access to the sun, andtoilet-rooms for girls and boys are provided. The school provides hospitaltreatment with educational and manual training until the cripple arrivesat the age of twenty-one, or has secured a self-sustaining occupation. Forest Schools.—For feeble children, forest schools should be in-augurated where instruction can be given to the children with their lungsfilled with pure air and their brains supplied with well-oxygenated blood.Undoubtedly, learning under such surroundings would be both rapid andattractive.
