English: A 7th Brigade Afghan National Civil Order Police policeman attaches wires to a mock pressure plate during a "remote pull" demonstration at the brigade headquarters in Lashkar Gah, Helmand Province, Afghanistan, May 2. The "remote pull" method is a technique explosive ordnance disposal technicians used to disarm improvised explosive devices by tossing a grappling hook past the wires and pulling quickly to separate the wires from the bomb. Sergeant First Class Jamal Nasir and Sergeant Second Class Najibullah Rasooli are teaching the Explosive Hazard Reduction Course and Gunnery Sgt. Justin Robertson, an EOD technician and West Paducah, Ky., native with 2nd EOD Company, Combat Logistics Regiment 2, is responsible for guiding the two to teach effectively. The method, known as "train the trainer," has become widely used in Afghanistan by Security Force Assistance personnel. It's an important strategy and one in which the success of the Afghan National Security Forces is dependent on as coalition troops draw down in Afghanistan. |
