Summary
[edit]DescriptionTraigh a' Phrionsa - geograph.org.uk - 1072238.jpg |
English: Traigh a' Phrionsa View is from the vitrified fort on Rubh'Aird Ghamhsgail looking over Traigh a' Phrionsa, (The Prince's beach). This beach is where Bonnie Prince Charlie first landed on the mainland on the 25th July 1745. He set up his HQ at Borrodale House nearby. Later, following Culloden, he again hid here for a time in a cave 100 yards from the shore amidst the trees in the rocky escarpment shown in the photo. Finally he left from here for Loch nan Uamh to board the 'L'Heureux' on his escape to France. |
