| Description |
English: Trafalgar Day ,Nelson's Monument, Calton Hill Even Lord Collingwood was irritated by Nelson's unnecessary signals. The riposte to his, "England expects..." is that only the English in the fleet, which comprised over 30 nationalties needed reminding to do their duty! However, this signal is traditionally flown here on Trafalgar Day. Thinking to get a better picture I went there this year, 2008 but the flagpoles were bare. On inquiry I was told it had been adjudged "Too windy"! Ye Gods - for flags. We lose these traditions at our peril. |
