English: Pvt. Medrick Mills, St. Kitts and Nevis Coast Guard, uses sounding tape to help determine the fluid displacement inside a container at Camp Blizzard, June 6. This process, called volumetrics, is a method of quantitative chemical analysis in which the amount of a substance in a container is determined, then a portion of liquid is emptied and the fluid drop is checked for consistency in order to determine if a foreign object is inside. This training is a maritime military law enforcement procedure to obtain probable cause for drugs or weapons smuggling. Able Seaman Almoyie Webster (center), Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force Coast Guard, and Seaman Eugene Sanchez (left), Belize Coast Guard Service, assist with the volumetric calculations as part of Tradewinds 2014. Tradewinds is a joint, combined exercise conducted in conjunction with partner nations to enhance the collective abilities of defense forces and constabularies to counter transnational organized crime and to conduct humanitarian/disaster relief operations.
