| Description |
English: Track to Tilhill, Foxbury Plantation This track leads off to the north-west from the public footpath along Cooper's Lane in Foxbury Plantation. Note the well-developed understorey of rhododendron that has suppressed the previously diverse understorey flora. The National Trust has recently purchased Foxbury Plantation from the Longford Estate. Longford Estate is to retain the timber rights for 10 years, which means that over the 10 year period the commercial stands of conifers will be felled - first those to the left of this track, then those to the right. Then the NT will restore these areas to heathland and deciduous woodland. It also plans to restore the network of ponds, ditches and streams. Eventually the land will be opened up for public access. |
