A cleared, flattened area indicates the former location of a road.

Crater Rim Historic District. Although it is not visible from the Crater Rim Drive, the Uwekahuna-Bird Park Road trace is evident from the topography and vegetation patterns. The road was constructed in 1933 and discontinued in 1961. Road traces are considered archeological features of the landscape.
