Summary
[edit]DescriptionTown Lock Vicinity, Newark on Trent, Notts. (geograph 5585355).jpg |
English: Town Lock Vicinity, Newark on Trent, Notts. The two cyclists seen here are on the Riverside Trail who are about to cross the footbridge over the River Trent. The navigational direction sign however, points out the direction of travel for boats wishing to pass through Town Lock. William Jessop's older Town Lock - built in 1772 and extended in 1808 is now disused, having been replaced by current (parallel) lock in 1952. |
