Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Tourmaline
Locality: Himalaya Mine (Himalaya pegmatite; Himalaya dikes), Gem Hill, Mesa Grande District, San Diego County, California, USA (Locality at mindat.org)
This beautiful specimen is a classic Himalaya in terms of color, but there the similarity ends! It is strikingly differnt in overall form from the vast majority of Himalaya singles. The intricately crenellated top is really mesmerizing in person and leaps out at you. It is very thick and 3-dimensional, as you can see, and displays well from just aobut any position at all. It stands on its own, via the flat bottom termination. This piece is UNREPAIRED despite its size, undamaged save for a tiny ding on the bottom edge, and is a floater with no attachment points anywhere. A miracle, that it could grow like this, I think! 7.7 x 4.9 x 3.5 cm
