"Das Totem der Nuxalk-Indianer Dies sind die Traditionellen Symbole der Nuxalk aus Kanada: Ein Grizzlybär umfängt einen Alder mit Armen aus Lachsen und ruht auf Raben - Beinen. Über ihm erhebt sich ein Orca der einen Biber trägt. Gekönt wird das Totem von Ista, der mystischen Urmutter des Stammes. Das Totem wiegt 1 Tonne und ist aus dem Stamm einer 600 Jahre alten Rot-Zeder geschnitzt. Es steht für den gemeinsamen Kampf der Nuxalk mit Greenpeace für den kanadischen Regenwald. Das Totem ist eine kostbares Geschenk des Stammes an Greenpeace. Er wurde im August 1999 hergestellt und im März 2000 feierlich aufgestellt." (Presseportal) |
