Summary
[edit]DescriptionTossol Fageda.jpg |
English: A "tossol" (mound of volcanic rocks) in the Fageda d'en Jordà beech forest, near Olot, Catalonia. These mounds were formed when molten lava which poured from the nearby Croscat volcano about 14,000 years ago settled over expanses of water in the area. The heated water gave off hot "bombs" of water vapour. These rose to the surface rapidly and broke through the solidifying lava. This left the mounds of lava fragments known as "tossols".
