Place of discovery Salamis Island
Object history Acquired in Koulouri, Salamis, in 1812 by Otto Magnus von Stackelberg. Restored as an Amazon by Bertel Thorvaldsen between 1816 and 1828 and brought to Dresden in 1834, where it was displayed in Stackelberg's collection. Auctioned off with the rest of the collection after Stackelberg's death in 1837; acquired by the Dresden Antikensammlung in 1845. Thorvaldsen's additions were removed and attached to a plaster of cast of the torso in 1894, now displayed in the Albertinum (SK Dresden ASN 3005).
