Belém Tower (in Portuguese Torre de Belém, pronounced [ˈtoɾ(ɨ) dɨ bɨˈlɐ̃ĩ]) is a fortified tower located in the Belém district of Lisbon, Portugal. The Belém Tower was built in the early sixteenth century in the Portuguese late-Gothic style, the Manueline, to commemorate Vasco da Gama's expedition. This defensive, yet elegant construction has become one of the symbols of the city, a memorial to Portuguese power as it was during the Age of Discovery. ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%e3%83%99%e3%83%ac%e3%83%b3%e3%81%a... zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%e8%b4%9d%e4%bc%a6%e5%a1%94 See where this picture was taken. [?] |
