Description
Deutsch: Tornesch (Schleswig-Holstein) - Ehemaliger Tornescher Hof (Bj. 1877) - Foto 1982

- In 1877 the German-American Christian Köhn acquired the Tornescher Hof. He demolished the old Farmhouse and built the pictured building ensemble in the American architectural style. Köhn was only a few years farm owner.

- The building had different owners and functions afterwards. At times, it housed registry office and administration of the community. In 1941, the Savings and Loan Fund (Raiffeisen cooperative) acquired the Tornescher Hof. It was followed in 1942 seizure and use as a prisoner of war camp.

- After the war, the buildings and the grounds of the Raiffeisen cooperative served as warehouses. In 1948, the community opened a kindergarten there. After the construction of a grain storage hall at Wischmöhlenweg, the Raiffeisen cooperative moved to Uetersen in 1982. In October 1982, the buildings of the Tornescher Hof were demolished. Today there is a shopping center on the site.
