Bahasa Indonesia: Dalam suatu seni pertunjukan tradisional seperti jathilan, terdapat banyak unsur yang berperan, seperti pemain musik, penari dan pawang. Para penampil, terutama penari umumnya mengenakan kostum yang merepresentasikan karakter atau tokoh tertentu. Topeng sebagai bagian dari kostum selain menunjukkan sifat dari tokoh, juga menjadi penguat ekspresi dan karakter tokoh yang dibawakan. jika penari mengenakan topeng raksasa atau hewan, maka sikap yang ditunjukkan juga menonjolkan keseraman atau keliaran, sedangkan jika penari mengenakan topeng punakawan maka sikap yang ditunjukkan lebih jenaka dan bersahabat. |
