Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Tom Train Lane, Dumfries Dumfries and Galloway Council, Nithsdale Area Committee Report, 10 December 2008:

"A letter from Mrs Phyllis Macrae, of Nunholm Road, Dumfries was received requesting that the unnamed lane off Nunholm Road, which runs parallel to the houses of Nunholm Place, be named “Tom Train Lane”. This request was made in honour of Dr. Train who is a neighbour of Mrs Macrae’s. Dr Train has had a distinguished career as a Gynaecologist with a long established connection with Nunholm Road. It is understood that Dr Train used to maintain the grass areas along the lane. Mrs Macrae has undertaken some investigation into the ownership of the lane. Having consulted with Planning and Environmental Services, Property Services and Combined Services - Roads Services, Scot Rail and local neighbours, Mrs Macrae

established that the lane is an ancient right of way and does not belong to anyone."
