Summary
[edit]DescriptionTjilbruke sculpture.jpg |
English: Tjilbruke was an important figure in the Dreamtime stories of the Kaurna people of the Adelaide Plains. After the death of his nephew, Kulultuwi, Tjilbruke carried the body south along the coast, from Warriparinga to Rapid Bay. At each point where he stopped to rest his tears created freshwater springs.
This sculpture by John Dowie is located at Kingston Park. It was here that Tjilbruke prepared Kulultuwi for burial after carrying his remains from Warriparinga, prior to starting the journey south. |
