English: Tideswell, St John the Baptist, West stained glass window, (1907) by Hardman and Powell. A memorial to Elizabeth Sarah Fletcher and Mary Chandler who were mothers of the vicar, Rev. J.M.J. Fletcher, and his wife.
In the centre is Christ enthroned. Above are choirs of angels, below an angel offers incense. The saints below show the Four Evangelists: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Either side are the four Apostles: Andrew, James, Peter and Paul. The other side are the four Patriarchs: Abraham, Jacob, Moses and Joshua. Right are David, Elijah, Hezekiah and Isaiah. The next row contains the Bishops: St Chad of Lichfield, Hugh of Lincoln, Osmund of Salisbury and Martin of France. The next row down includes the four new Testament women: Mary, Anne, Elizabeth and Mary Magdalene. Then four British Mediaeval Evangelists: Bede, Aidan, Boniface and Columba. Then to the right are St Cecilia, Margaret of Antioch, Genevieve, and Cuthburga of Wimborne. In the centre at the bottom is the patron saint of the church, John the Baptist. |
