Abergavenny is somewhere I'm always drawn back to - it has such character, with its mechanical signalling. I visited today to photograph a train that's been on my list for many years - the Saturdays only 2B60 1509 Swansea-Abergavenny service. I believe that at one time it regularly brought a Pacer unit to Abergavenny - the only such rostered work for the 142s/143s on the Marches. Another change over time is that the unit which arrived from Swansea would then shunt across to Platform 1 and form a passenger service back to Cardiff Central. But in the current timetable, at least, the unit stables in Platform 1 (the northbound platform) until after the departure of the 1V46 1430 Manchester Piccadilly-Cardiff Central service (at 1709) and then runs ECS back to Canton depot. |
