Description
English: The temperature scale is in degrees Fahrenheit.

Thumb Geyser is a rarely active feature in the Lower Group of Yellowstone's West Thumb Geyser Basin. The basin is about 9 to 10 meters across and water levels vary through time. Decent eruptions were observed in the mid-1920s but activity has been sporadic since. No developed runoff channel is currently present. Thumb Geyser does receive eruption runoff from nearby Waterfall Geyser, a new feature that first appeared in August 2016. Waterfall eruptions produce a fair amount of water, much of which cascades over a rocky outcrop ("waterfall") into Thumb Geyser's basin, which fills up and sometimes overflows and spreads out.

In 2000, researchers measured Thumb Geyser's water temperature at 34 degrees Celsius, with a pH of about 8.2 (= slightly alkaline).
