Description
English: The temperature scale is in degrees Fahrenheit.

Collapsing Pool is a hot spring with very rare geyser eruptions. It occurs in the Lower Group of Yellowstone's West Thumb Geyser Basin. Water level varies, but the basin itself is about 13 x 8 meters in size. Portions of the margins of the pool have blocks and smaller pieces of geyserite/sinter that are collapsed ledges. The collapse event took place during the 1959 Hebgen Lake Earthquake.

The only reported geyser eruptions from this feature were in late May to June 2001. Observed eruptions reached up to ~5 meters high.

From early to mid-June 2017, Collapsing Pool was observed to be heating up and changing color from greenish-blue to bluish. This was accompanied by increased overflow into Surging Spring and occasional full-pool pulsing events.

In 2000, researchers measured the water temperature of Collapsing Pool at 88 degrees Celsius, with a pH of about 8.2 (= slightly alkaline).
