Français : Coupe verticale pression versus hauteur des isohypses (surfaces isobares) dans un anticyclone thermique. Bien que la pression réduite au niveau de la mer puisse atteindre couramment des valeurs très élevées au centre d'un anticyclone thermique, un tel système a généralement une épaisseur réduite et se transforme en une dépression en altitude : en effet, on explique en météorologie que la différence de hauteur entre deux surfaces isobares sur une verticale donnée est d'autant plus forte que les températures de la couche atmosphérique comprise entre ces deux surfaces sont en moyenne plus élevées suivant cette verticale : par suite, dans un air très froid, la haute pression de surface s'amenuise lorsqu'on gagne en hauteur, jusqu'à s'inverser et finalement creuser une dépression. |
