English: Theresienhof about 1900. Theresienhof is today a part (settlement, estate; german: Wohnplatz) of Bad Saarow, District Oder-Spree, Brandenburg, Germany. The in the image mentioned Pfaffendorf is a part of Rietz-Neuendorf; it was in this time the post office for Theresienhof. Originating as the watermill Pieskow at the eastern bank of the Scharmützelsee the Theresienhof was an agricultural establishment for a long time. Under the name Theresienhof it was first mentioned in documents in 1851. Since 1918 it was used as recreation resort, holiday home or educational training center. In 2008 the main building (a villa or manor house, often referred to as a castle) was demolished. A holiday village, named Schlosspark Bad Saarow, with about 140 holiday houses and accomodations in scandinavian style has been created on the site of the Theresienhof since 2008. |
