[edit]DescriptionTheodor Bohdan Sahanek (1881 1942).jpg |
English: Theodor (Bohdan) Sahánek or also just Teodor Sahánek (* 9 November 1881 Počenice, today Počenice-Tětětice, Kroměříž district - † 7 May 1942 Mauthausen concentration camp, executed) was a railway employee (retired engine driver) during the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia and lived with his wife Emilia Sahánek (* 5 October 1885 Hulín) in Kroměříž (Purkyňova street 38). He joined the anti-German resistance in 1941 in support of the S1/R paratroopers organized from the USSR. After the paratroop (and its supporters) were exposed, he was arrested by the Gestapo and imprisoned in Brno. In Brno he was also sentenced to death and the confiscation of all his property by a German martial court on 22 December 1941 for disturbing public order and security, for acts of sabotage, and for preparing treason. After the verdict, he was deported to the Mauthausen concentration camp, where he was executed (collectively with 71 others) on 7 May 1942. |
