eeds in a marshy place.- Nest.—The domicile is rather compact and neatly cuppeon the whole is very bulky for a bird so small. The base is conof dry oak and beech leaves, and other leaves which dry hard, jand without crumpling; on top of this heap a more compact stris made, the leaves being placed points downward; then comes a 1supply of strips of grapevine bark and shreds of inner tree bjplaced that the rough ends extend beyond the rim of the nelining is then put in place consisting of fine grass stems and, itcases, long horse-hairs. A strict lining is not alway put insome birds being content to rest the eggs on the grapevine baia few intermingling grass stems. Although constructed ofmaterials, the inside of the nest presents a neat appearance, thshreds of bark and grasses crossing diagonally, much rese:basket work.
