of the State, where, under the general school law, high schools of anyconsequence were practically impossible, the township and com- 26 TOWNSHIP AND COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOLS. munity high school laws have brought about the organization of agroup of fine schools. Among these the following are to be foundon the accredited list of the North Central Association of Collegesand Secondary Schools: Belleville, Bridgeport, Centralia, Collins-ville, Duquoin, Flora, Harrisburg, Lawrenceville, Marshall, MountVernon, Murphysboro, and Robinson. In the central part of the State which is very rich as an agricul-tural district the movement has been more conservative. Yet here,too, the past three or four years have witnessed very rapid develop-ments. It has remained for this section to emphasize the idea oforganizing entire counties, practically, into high-school districts.The counties which have made the most notable progress in thisrespect are: Champaign, Coles, Douglas, Ford, Iroquois, Macon,Macoupin,
