HE PLACE AND THE GIRL. chirped my side partner with the peek-a-boowaist. Perfectly sublime, was the steam that leftmy volcano as we made a turn in the road, threading our way and galloping through theSilver and Golden Gates without stopping for afizz as a quencher, into the beautiful SwanLake valley, where the ladies come from allparts of the world to develop swan like necks. Here we saw the beautiful Electric Peak andthe Gallatin Eange. Passed up the side tripto Bunsens Peak on account of the blowpipes and not wanting to blow the bunch. The ride through Willow Park was like a tripintoi fairyland. Here The Campers maketheir first all-night stand and build their biglog fires, sitting around which they tell storiesof adventure, experience, etc., sing a few songsand then pile in for a refreshing slumber amongthe pines, in comfortable compartment tents. Text Appearing After Image:
THE TIME, THE PLACE AND THE GIRL. neither drills nor dynamite made an impression,as the dark brown substance resisted the effortsof the engineers until fires were built againstthese walls of solid glass. Sheltered behindwet blankets (ever have the wet blanket thrownon you, Billy?), the crews dashed water uponthe heated surface, causing the glass to crackand crumble into pieces, and the way was suc-cessfully cleared for the road bed. We passedthe placid waters of Beaver Lake and EoaringMountain (which is a hillside of a thousandwhistles from Hell), the Devils Frying Panand numerous sulphurous springs, which keepthe pan hot for the next fellow. At noon tidewe reached Norris Geyser Basin, where lunchwas served prior to the continuation of ourjaunt through The Park of Parks, reachingthe first hostelry at five-thirty, where a delight-ful repast was served and enjoyed by all of thetourists, and, in turn, by a restful nights sleep.Good night, Billy. Yours as. ever, Ben Boston. 17
