On one side of thebuilding is the Big Sandy River, on the other the Ohio River isclose at hand. From the grounds of the power station can be seenthree states, the name Kenova standing for the three—Ken, forKentucky: 0. for Ohio, and Va, for Virginia. The building is constructed in a thoroughly fireproof manner.The materials used were dark red brick with gray sandstone founda-tion and trimmings. Its size is 150x120 ft., which allows ampleroom for the present eciuipment and added space for the accommo-dation of all the apparatus which will be needed for some time tocome. This structure, which was built by Caldwell. Drake & Co.,of Columbus, Tnd., has a slate roof 45 ft. above the engine roomfloor, supported by steel trusses furnished by the Cracket Bridge engine, to an overhead bunker.
