Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The winter season of 2021/2022 is characterised by a deficit in rainfall in several European regions. According to the Copernicus Climate Change Service, January 2022 was drier than average in most of western and southern Europe, particularly in the Iberian Peninsula. In addition, snowfall was particularly low in both the Alps and the Pyrenees. This image, acquired by one of the Copernicus Sentinel-3 satellites on 10 February, shows the current snow cover in the Pyrenees, the lowest level observed since 2001. Monitoring of snow cover is of crucial importance for climate studies.
