While the main portion of the col-lection consists of the Werner groupsthere are also exhibits of corals,she.ls, Indian and war relics andrt::cr interesting material Situatedat one end of the lecture hall is alarge case containing nearly all thecommoner varieties of birds used inclass study. These prove of greatvalue to the many children who withtheir teachers visit the Museum frequently. There is also a small refer-ence library on natural history andkindred subjects the volumes ofwhich are not allowed outside of thebuilding. The Museum also containsa number of extinct or nearly extinctl)irds. WHISTLING SWAN NESTING GROUP 20 THE OOLOGIST Passenger Pigeon form a valuable ad-dition to this splendid collection. As a center of education for dis-seminating knowledge of our wild life,the Museum aims to be of benefit tothe students of our schools, and toaid those who in later life desire topursue this most interesting study.It is felt that if a love of Gods wildcreatures can be instilled in thehearts and minds of growing childrenthere would be less robbing of nestsand a diminishing use of the smallrifle among the younger generationswhich already threaten the extinctionof 30 many of these useful and neces-sary creatures. To this end the Audu-bon Club of Norristown, which hasadopted the Museum as its permanenthome, meets regularly throughout theyear. This Society, organized March27th, 1911 for the study, protectionand conservation of wild life, pro-motes a series of lectures each yearwhich tend to forcibly reveal to allthe necessity for such measures.
