Summary
[edit]DescriptionThe most famous cranes in Belfast (5) - geograph.org.uk - 768092.jpg |
English: The most famous cranes in Belfast [5] Samson and Goliath (nearest) gantry cranes at Harland and Wolff in Belfast. Caught on a beautifully bright April afternoon, 'Samson' is hard at work lifting something from the dry dock - possibly a section of the almost completely dismantled 'MSC Napoli' (see http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/northern_ireland/7346433.stm ) but it was difficult to be sure - see 768099. The land in the foreground, formerly part of the shipyard, is soon going to be redeveloped as part of the ongoing 'Titanic Quarter' project in Belfast so views of the cranes from this position may be lost forever. See also 599214 for further information on the cranes. |
