A relief map or model of this groupof earthworks forms a part of the exhibit. Among the earthworks which are shown in model is the famousSerpent Mound with the park surrounding it. As the name implies KTHNOLOGY, ANTHROPOLOGY, ARCHEOLOGY. 421 this earthwork Is In the form of a serpent winding In graceful curvesalong the brow of a hill overlooking the waters of Brush Creek InAdams county. Everything In connection with this remarkableeffigy, constructed with such a vast amount of labor and located onthis elevated point surrounded by the most beautiful scenery, tendsto the conclusion that this was a sacred spot and probably a shrineof serpent worship among these ancient people, whose village sitesand burial-places were discovered near by.
