Chief Consul Hackneyupon his return from the Philadelphia con-vention spoke very encouraging to the localcyclists of the citys chance of securing theplum. Said he : The cycling population of Denver is madeup to a great extent of men who were riders inthe East. These men all have friends backthere who are also wheelmen, and the Denvermen just now are renewing old acquaintance-ship very lively by mail. It is conceded allaround Denver that the League meeting herein 1894 would be a great boom for cycling inevery way, and the club men are doing all theycan to get it here. It is safe to say they will send a repre-sentative to Chicago who will vote for Denverfor the 94 meeting. They dont care to go tothe seaside because it is an old story to them,but they do want to come to Denver to andsee the grand Rocky Mountain scenery whichis so great a novelty to Eastern men.
