Bidwell Cycle Co. write usas follows: We have just received advicesfrom our attorneys that the United StatesCircuit Court of Appeals has this day handeddown a decision in our favor in the case ofFeatherstone vs. Bidwell for infringement oftire patents, thus reversing the former decisionof Judge Lacomb last Fall. This effectuallysettles Featherstones claim against us forinfringement of patent, the decision of theCircuit Court of Appeals being final. A. L. Garford, president of the GarfordMfg. Co., was in New York last week. W. A. Walpole, manager of the Ames &Frost Co., was in the metropolis this week.It is not often that Mr. Walpole finds his wayeastward. L. W. Conkling, of the St. Louis Refrigera-tor and Wooden Gutter Co., was in Gothamlast week purchasing materials for the manu-facture of their bicycles. He had with him asample of their aluminum frame. Detroit, August i, 1893.The international circuit opened to-day witha two days meet under the auspices of theMichigan Division. All the cracks were pres-ent, and the racing was spirited. Twenty-fivehundred people were present. Zimmerman won the first and Tyler thesecond heat of the quarter mile open race, bothdoing the distance in 30 1-5S.. which is withinone-fifth of a second of the record. Gary, A. I.Brown and Hoyland Smith were placed in thefirst. Zimmermans chain broke at the start inthe final heat, necessitating his withdrawal. Gary came like the wind at the finish andbeat Harry Tyler a few inches. A. I. Browndefeated D. S. Nelson for third place.
