But, to the surprise ofeverybody, an unknown boy named Bordenromped away from his field and eventually wonby half a lap, even though he had fallen andmet with considerable delay while procuring afresh machine to finish the race with. Thisresult must be regarded as one of the greatestsurprises ever known in connection with Eng-lish racing. It may be that a marvel has beensuddenly discovered; but the general view isthat Master Borden owes his run away win toan exceptionally high gear.
