e amongst the good men who will ride.J. C. Penseyres, the Buffalo crack, is on thelist, but had a bad fall during the week andwill hardly compete. Two new men who willbear watching are J. Searles and H. R. Steen-son. Searles is a former resident of St. Louis,who has quite a turn of speed, while Steensonis fit company for the best of them. He willstart from scratch. He formerly lived in El-gin, 111., but is now residing in Rockaway,N. J. He traveled a portion of the Westerncircuit last year, and at Jacksonville, 111., wonthe mile handicap from the 100-yard mark in2m. 19 4-5S. He is a strong, heavily builtcha pwho, with proper handling, will make his markthis season. The Rochester (N. Y.) Wheelmens Leagueconvened last week, and committees were ap-pointed for the issuing year. There are over5,000 wheelmen in Rochester, and of thisnumber but 4,000 are registered in accordancewith the local ordinance. ChairmanRaymond announced his decision on Saturdaylast. He decided in favor of the MarylandB. C, and will give the date to that club.The chairman gave the matter much time andattention, and reviewed the case very thor-oughly. In his decision he said: I approach with great reluctance the decision inthe Baltimore case. The friction here engendered,through what can be at the most but a series of mis-understandings, is the one factor which is deplorable.To do the utmost justice to all concerned I shall herego into the case at length.
