Summary

[edit]
Description On October 25, U.S. Deputy Chief of Mission Ted Osius announced completion of the $57 million U.S. Government-funded Integrated Maritime Surveillance System (IMSS) project with the Indonesian Navy. The now fully operational IMSS enhances Indonesia’s ability to detect, track, and monitor vessels passing through territorial and international waters, a capability crucial to combating piracy, illegal fishing, smuggling, and terrorism within and around Indonesia’s maritime borders. The system includes 18 coastal surveillance stations, 11 ship-based radars, and 4 command centers (in Batam, Manado, Jakarta, and Surabaya). [U.S. State Dept.]
