Summary
[edit]DescriptionThe Ulster Folk Museum (38) - geograph.org.uk - 616619.jpg |
English: The Ulster Folk Museum (38). See 616581. The Catholic church dates from 1783 and was removed from Portadown. From a photographic aspect it is partly hidden by a wall so there is no outside view. This is the inside with the altar on the left and the front door at middle right.
There are quite a few exhibits still to be photographed. Just after this one the Customer Services Advisor (or whatever) came in search of me to see who I was taking photographs for. Despite two denials (hard (nay - impossible) to prove a negative) I was told that I was in possession of a professional tripod and that the by-laws meant that I had to pay. I had thought that this was a just a pompous petty official. I now realise that the Museum defines "professional" as "in possession of a tripod" not "the earning of an income" (although it's very hard to fly in the face of dictionaries). It was also (some might argue) entirely appropriate (in view of the circumstances) for the Museum to ensure that the security barrier was lowered to prevent my escape. I await the CBO with baited breath. Cynic - moi? GOMM! |
