English: The Massabki brothers were from a noble Christian family, they lived in Damascus in the nineteenth century and were known for their piety, generosity and Christian values.
Español: Los hermanos Massabki, Francisco, Abdel El Moati y Rafael, fueron mártires maronitas, asesinados en Damasco en 1860 en el marco de un dramático levantamiento anticristiano en Siria y Líbano entre abril y julio de ese año, en el que se destruyeron más de sesenta pueblos en el Shouf y el Matn. Alrededor de 2.600 cristianos fueron masacrados en Deir El-Qamr con la connivencia, si no la ayuda, de las autoridades turcas (otomanos). Se calcula que unos 12.000 cristianos fueron asesinados en Líbano y 11.000 en Siria. |
