Somel of tile iichimond skaters took advanltage of this rare tate of the ri\er; but the greater numler, including a few ladies, preferred the smoother ice of tile large pontds in Richmonlld-park. our artist has sketched the frozen Thames as seen through one of the arches of Paine's bridge, which forms a constituent feature in many beautiful views from surrounding points. - To w\h,,rr the ilier Thu ' tit-t ;11 'l \ We miss the luxuriance of the peidlnt -,,, l titt lip hmaies of shade which are the itiitical characteristies of the rt-plnl 1hat ricer sceller ; but we erljoy in their tead the beautifull trorlll of tile hallet,tough trees to delight tile -tudltnt of nature, and tlhe iports on the ice to break tilhe silence of the wintry landscape.
