As a reinforced feederfor the third rail, there was installed, in conduit, 9438 ft. ofpaper-insulated, low-tension cable, selected as the cheapestavailable construction for the service, since the installation wasregarded as being of a more or less temporary nature, and be-cause the ultimate life of the cable was not an importantfeature.
