English: The Prescott Bridge Lit here by the low winter sun, this bridge crosses the Allander Water, and forms part of the Allander Walkway. The bridge was erected in 1990 by visiting Royal Engineers, in memory of Staff Sergeant Jim Prescott (49 Squadron Royal Engineers). The plaque reads:
"The Prescott Bridge / This steel beam bridge was constructed by 583 EOD Sqn RE (V) during 1990 / The bridge is dedicated to the memory of SSgt Jim Prescott RE (Bomb Disposal) who gave his life during the Falklands Campaign" [Note: RE (V) is Royal Engineers (Volunteers); EOD is Explosive Ordnance Disposal] |
