English: The Portner, an eight-unit condominium located at 1224 13th Street, N.W., (between M and N Streets, N.W.) in the Logan Circle neighborhood of Washington, D.C., is the last remaining Victorian building on its block. Built in 1885 by August Getz, the Second Empire former row house, apartment building, and boarding house, (before restoration) was designed by architect Clement August Didden (another design by Didden, located nearby) for millionaire real estate speculator and entrepreneur, Robert Portner (1837–1906), a native of the Province of Westphalia, Prussia. |
