Description
English: Modern depiction of the Melaka city after its foundation sometime after 1400 CE. Melaka city is the capital of Malacca Sultanate (1400-1511). Melaka, a typical Malay-style riverine city, had no wall at all, except for bamboo stockades which were erected for temporary defence. Cities of this type are Johor, Brunei, and Aceh.[1]

ESTABLISHMENT OF MELAKA.

Before Parameswara founded his kingdom on Bukit Melaka (St. Paul's Hill) there was a small settlement at the mouth of the Melaka River. Approximately 10 to 20 Orang Selat families (strait fishing communities) live at the foot of Melaka Hill who practice marine livelihoods. When Parameswara and his followers moved to Bukit Melaka from Bertam Ulu after their journey from Singapore, he established his palace among the Selat people on the southern side of the Melaka River while his followers lived opposite the cliff. A wooden bridge was built connecting Parameswara with his people, this is how the Melaka Kingdom began.
Bahasa Indonesia: Penggambaran modern kota Melaka setelah pendiriannya suatu saat setelah tahun 1400. Kota Melaka adalah ibu kota Kesultanan Malaka (1400-1511). Melaka, kota sungai khas Melayu, tidak memiliki tembok sama sekali, kecuali perkubuan bambu yang didirikan untuk pertahanan sementara. Kota-kota dengan jenis ini adalah Johor, Brunei, dan Aceh.[2]

PENDIRIAN MELAKA.

Sebelum Parameswara mendirikan kerajaannya di Bukit Melaka (St. Paul's Hill) terdapat sebuah pemukiman kecil di muara Sungai Melaka. Kurang lebih 10 sampai 20 keluarga Orang Selat (masyarakat nelayan selat) menetap di kaki Bukit Melaka yang menjalankan kehidupan dari laut. Saat Parameswara dan pengikutnya pindah ke Bukit Melaka dari Bertam Ulu setelah perjalanan mereka dari Singapura, Beliau mendirikan istananya di kalangan Orang Selat di bagian selatan Sungai Melaka sementara pengikut-pengikutnya tinggal di seberang tebing tersebut. Sebuah jembatan kayu dibangun menghubungkan Parameswara dengan rakyatnya, begitulah bermulanya Kerajaan Melaka.

Apabila Parameswara dan pengikutnya berpindah ke Bukit Melaka dari Bertam Ulu selepas pengembaraannya dari Singapura, Beliau mendirikan istananya di kalangan Orang Selat di bahagian selatan Sungai Melaka sementara pengikut-pengikutnya tinggal bertentangan dengan tebing tersebut. Sebuah jambatan kayu dibina menghubungkan Parameswara dengan rakyatnya, begitulah bermulanya Kerajaan Melaka.
