English: After the Battle of Pákozd from 29.09.1848, Lieutenant General Josip Jelačić concluded an armistice with the Hungarian troops led by Lieutenant General János Móga, but then retreated towards Austria when hearing of the revolt of the people of Vienna from 6 October. The Croatian troops which remained in Western Hungary were forced to flee by the national revolts and the Hungarian militias. On 9 October, the Croatian column of 9000 soldiers and national guards led by Major-General Karl Roth was forced to surrender by the Hungarian national guards led by Colonel Mór Perczel and Major Artúr Görgei at Ozora. Meanwhile the Imperial Manifesto of 3 October triggered the revolt of the Austrian troops from Transylvania and the garrisons of Arad, Temesvár and Gyulafehérvár, and swore alliegeance to the emperor. At the same time the Romanians from Transylvania also revolted against the Hungarians and allied with the Austrian troops. As a result of this, Transylvania was lost by Hungary, excepting the Székelys from the southeastern part of Transylvania, who resisted the Austrian attacks. Meanwhile, at the end of October the Hungarian troops crossed the Austrian border, trying to help the people of Vienna against the imperial troops led by Field Marshal Windisch-Grätz, but on 30.10.1848 they were defeated by the reorganized troops of Jelačić and forced to return to Hungary.
