English: On 22 March 1849 the Hungarian troops from Southern Hungary led by General Mór Perczel, started an offensive against the Serbian troops from Bácska, defeating them, and relieving from the north the Hungarian fortress of Pétervárad. Then on 4 April he captured the fortified Serbian camp of Szenttamás, which was besieged without succes by the Hungarians 3 times before.
On the main theater of operations, the Hungarian main army led by General Artúr Görgei started an offensive, defeating on 6 April the Austrian troops led by Field Marshal Windisch-Grätz in the Battle of Isaszeg, and liberating the Tisza-Danube Interfluve. |
