English: This Envisat image, acquired on 4 February 2008 by the Medium Resolution Imaging Spectrometer (MERIS) instrument, features countries of the Middle East, including Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Israel and Iraq. The dark blue body of water peeping through the snow in the upper right hand corner is Lake Van, the largest body of water in Turkey. The Euphrates River is visible flowing through the middle of the image, and the Tigris is seen on the right above the partially visible dark blue body of water. |
