This image of the Massachusetts State House was taken from across the street during a cloudless day. It includes a very small portion of the building. The building is a red brick, federal style building with two main stories, supporting a smaller third story. This smaller story is a base for a brick pediment, outlined in a white trim, which provides the base for a large gold dome with cupola. On top of the cupola is a small pine cone, the state symbol. In front of the building on the right side is a flag pole with the Massachusetts State flag at half mast. On the left side of the image is a tree. Hanging horizontally across the image at the top is an American flag. The red and white stripes of the flag are pointing down and the blue canton is at the top left.
