Summary
[edit]DescriptionThe Loftus -Hills memorial deep in the rainforest of Western Tasmania.jpg |
English: This huge boulder - a perched erratic left behind by glaciers, is dedicated to Clive Loftus -Hills (1884- 1967) who was a former Director of the Geological Survey of Tasmania and the first Doctor of Science of the University of Tasmania. His insights into the geology of the region contributed not only to the understanding of glacial processes, but to the development of the ore bodies and thus to the creation of "... every settlement on the West Coast."
It is located in the Henty Glacial Erratics Reserve on the A10 Highway, 13.8 km North of Queenstown, Tasmania.
