Description |
This photogravure reproduces a painting by American artist Daniel Ridgway Knight (1839-1924), who was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and also spent time in France. The photogravure was part of a massive study of American paintings in private collections, titled "Recent Ideals In American Art." The series took the firm Goupil & Co., in Paris, and the publishers D. Appleton & Co., in New York, over two years to complete. Viewers at the time commented on the rich tonality and intricate details of the prints. |
